The Town of La Plata Public Works Dept. will be offering loose leaf collection from October 12, 2009 to December 11, 2009. The crews will be picking up this year on a new schedule, so there will be no need to contact the Town Hall for pick-up service. The Town would like to ask our residents to support our “Going Green” program by mulching or composting your leaves. Visit the Announcement Section of this website for a complete schedule. The La Verde Mini Grant is designed to bring awareness to our community’s "Green Initiatives" and help to bring more community oriented, sustainable, regenerative, and conservation related green building projects to reality. The La Plata Green Building Committee invites residents of the Town of La Plata, Home Owner Associations, school projects, scout groups, civic organizations, businesses, and other community members to submit the following application for review. Winning project proposals will be granted up to $500 towards their idea.

Rates are per 1,000 gallons. Consumption is measured in Gallons Per Quarter (gpq).

For FY10 the rates are as follows: 

For consumption of less than and up to 15,000 gpq $2.70 for water and $7.80 for sewer; for consumption above 15,000 gallons and less than and up to 100,000 gpq $3.10 for water and $8.70 for sewer, and; for consumption above 100,000 gpq $2.70 for water and $7.80 for sewer.

Your household used 20,000 gpq.

(1^st rate) :
15,000 gal. @ 2.70 = $40.50
(2^nd rate):
 5,000 gal. @ 3.10 = $15.50
Water Total = $56.00

Sewer

(1^st rate) :
15,000 gal. @ 7.80 = $117.00
 (2^nd rate) :
5,000 gal. @ 8.70 = $43.50
 Sewer Total =   $160.50

The majority of La Plata residences averaged below 15,000 gallons per quarter in 2008.
